Presonus StudioLive 24.4.2 – Review

admin I’ve been very interested in the Presonus StudioLive series since the release of the 16.4.2 a few years ago. I got a chance to work with the newer 24.4.2 on a recent live recording for a Christmas music program.
The setup was simple, my trusty Mac Mini (2.26GHz Intel Core2 Duo, 8GB of Ram) with my G-Tech 2TB Firewire 800 connected direct, and the StudioLive console plugged into the drive. I was worried about sharing the firewire bus, but ran into no problems. The DAW was Pro Tools 9.0.2. Read more »
Brainworx | Vertigo VSC-2 Compressor Plugin

admin Brainworx has worked closely with Vertigo to model and emulate their $6,000 VSC-2 compressor. They are running a 14-day free trial now, and the plugin will be available as AAX and 64-bit in January.
New Free Windows VST Plugin

admin Variety of Sound have released a new VST (Windows only, sorry guys) eq. It is based on the Baxandall shelving frequencies and is called the BaxterEQ.

Massey Plugins Update

admin I told you about the new plugins that Massey was showing at AES 2011, and now it looks like we have some more information. The plugins as listed before are the CT5 compressor and the MQ2 equalizer. Along with these, Massey has updated his DRT plugin to include the ability to place drum samples into your session directly.
